Keynote Speaker  2009:  Jim Gill

www.jimgill.com

Family Concert on Friday, October 23:  7:00pm at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo

Jim Gill is a musician, an author, and, perhaps most importantly, a child development specialist. His musical recordings and picture books have received honors and awards from, among other organizations, the American Library Association. Jim completed his graduate studies in child development at the Erikson Institute of Chicago with a special emphasis on the study of play. For this reason, each of Jim’s recordings and books is created as an opportunity for playful interactions between a child and a caring adult.

Jim travels throughout the country speaking to early childhood educators about the role of play in children’s lives. He also leads family concerts with his banjo, his band, and with symphony orchestras. His latest book, A Soup Opera, is featured in a concert for children that Jim created especially for symphony orchestras.

Who should attend?
Anyone who works with and/or loves young children. Parents, child care providers and teachers in home and centers, other early childhood educators and advocates are invited to participate in this fun, educational and motivating conference that will benefit our most precious resource – our children.

Variety of Workshops:
Child Care Resources' Early Childhood Conference will offer each  participant the opportunity to pre-register and attend a variety of different workshops! Workshops will focus on children of all ages and are geared for parents, child care providers in homes and centers, administrators, etc. Check out the 2008 Conference 1-hour Workshops and 2-hour Focus sessions!

Conference and Corporate Partners and Supporters:
  • Why is the business of child care important to you? Child care professionals in southwestern Michigan provide care for more than 30,000 children.
Together local child care programs generate more than 150 million dollars in revenue each year. These are dollars that they spend in this area of Michigan for their business as well as for their personal lives.

  • See who invested in young children through donations to the conference in 2008.

  • Another reason you should invest in the quality child care: Quality child care means less employee absenteeism and the potential for a more productive work force. Additionally, quality child care guarantees that children get a good start in school and will become a part of Michigan’s educated workforce in the future. In the long run, "You work when Child Care Works."
  • How can you invest in your business and the future of our children? Your tax deductible donation will help support the conference, the early childhood professionals that attend it and the children in their daily care. And the free advertising you receive will help promote your business!
